Royal Baby grade alpaca is very rare and is the softest grade of alpaca available! Back in Incan times in South America, only members of the Royal family were permitted to wear alpaca of this fine quality. Commoners were put to death if caught revelling in this luxury! Not so today and we can all enjoy it!
This absolutely exquisite 2-ply alpaca yarn is made from alpaca fibre grown at our farm in the heart of the picturesque Niagara Peninsula. The fleece was lovingly cleaned by hand and then spun to our own specifications at a Canadian mill. The yarn was then hand painted at our farm in a unique range of colours. This yarn is the softest we offer and is suitable for items worn next to the most sensitive skin. It is particularly well suited for lacy scarves and shawls.
This yarn is dyed to order. Please allow up to a week for your order to be prepared prior to shipping.
(Note that some of the photos showing the colours are of skeins of a heavier yarn weight than laceweight. Rest assured that you will receive your desired colour in laceweight.)
Prepared in 50g skeins of 100% royal baby alpaca.
| Needle Size: | 1.5 - 3.5mm* |
| 100g skein: | ~400m (438 yds) |
* Note that lace weight yarns are usually worked using larger needles to create an open lacy effect. For this reason, needle size and gauge are difficult to determine for this yarn. Always follow the gauge stated in your pattern.
Handwash in cool water. Block out and lay flat to dry.
